Top to bottom: • "All the way up here for this?" --Lachulungla is the second highest pass on the Manali-Leh Highway at 16,616 ft.• A river runs through it, just outside of Pang in some of the most desolate country on the planet• Untouched wilderness and pristine nature at the top of Tanglangla Pass (17,480 ft.) Actually, the barrells are used to hold tar for road repair • Unbelievably, this only took a half an hour to clear away--landslides like this are common in these parts • Seemingly magic irrigation keeps these Ladakhi villages lush and green • An impromptu photo shoot right outside of Leh • The Tikse gompa near Leh seemed to house an unusually large number of head-shaven, robe-wearing men counting beads and chanting strange, incomprehensible jargon.?? |
